Conde House : Sash Stacking Side Chair : Japan : 1989
The Sash Chair is a wood framed side chair with arms. Its graceful form, fully upholstered seat and back and sophisticated detailing belie the chair's added attraction: Sash stacks, up to four chairs high.
The form of the chair frame is derived from the shear plane required for stacking.
The outside faces are flat for smooth stacking; the inside faces are rounded for the sitter's comfort. The connection between the arm and the leg is accomplished by means of a polished aluminum bracket set as an expressed detail.
